WAR. SICKNESS. FAMINE.
The world has always been less than perfect. No matter the amazing discoveries of new technologies that could save people, no matter that natural wonders that it has to offer. All of this is often never seen through the eyes of innocence or a passion to distribute to others. Humans are and have always been filled with greed and desire to better themselves. Little things like money get into the way of truly helping your fellow man. But it was been pushed to the point where mankind has put their home on the brink of destruction.
Forces all across the globe were fighting one another for resources that they were running out of. A little violence and many threats soon became actions and a worldwide war had begun. Panic was widespread as the year 2012 approached and people began finding themselves becoming more frugal, clinging onto what little resources that they did manage to get their hands on. Some people stuck together, helping those around them. Others took what they needed without a second thought of what would happen to anyone else. Farms were disappearing as the population grew and more urbanized buildings were moved in instead to make up the housing that the world had so desperately needed. Of course now the population was at a stand still, caught in a long suspension as many died. Mostly from suicides or homicides all across the world. And then in less than five years after the dreaded 2012 had passed, they began to drop like flies. People had been forced to live in the streets while the wealthy and better off hid in their homes. Epidemic had struck.
It was nothing more than the common flu that killed so many people. It alone killed more than the constant war raging all around. With so many dead or dying it seemed that mankind was finally going to wipe itself out. Then there was a new hope.
The Perfect Nation. When the organization first came around hundreds upon thousands of people flocked to put themselves underneath its wings. They promised a safe roof over the people’s heads, daily meals, and order. With these promises and their followers, The Perfect Nation started to construct a city. It was named Peony, after the flower which stood for healing. They were a healing people. But, of course, not everything is what it seems to be.
Peony was successful for many years, taking in many people and bringing them back to health all the while keeping the danger outside of its walls. None of them would ever expect that the organization protecting them was really weeding them out. Those deemed ‘not fit’ were secretly drugged and poisoned by their own doctors. While doing this they were also wiping out those who did not live within the walls of Peony. The army was taking care of them and cannot do much but follow orders, correct? Wrong. A resisting group of soldiers broke away, running for their lives and what they believed in. They simply called themselves The Resistance.
Outside of Peony there are many small groups of people that make up shabby little towns. But much of the country is in horrible ruins, debris scattered from the soil to the seas. Those who persevered though have made miraculous technological discoveries. Unfortunately, many of the humans’ primitive instincts are still in charge.Where will you stand in the year 2021?
