¨ HAVE YOU HEARD THE NEWS THAT YOU'RE DEAD ?
NO ONE EVER HAD MUCH NICE TO SAY ,
( I THINK THEY NEVER LIKED YOU ANYWAY ! ) - - - - - - - - - -
There was nothing like a nice, warm day to lighten the spirits. However, it was not that way. In fact, it was a dark, cloudy night, and that always managed to make Yuna feel at ease. In the darkness, she was stealthy and agile, almost unseen in her quickness. She was the perfect criminal: small yet strong and quick. She could overcome just about anyone put in her way.
Tonight, she had decided to visit the military base. Why? Yuna thought maybe she would pick off a few guards. After all, these military lap dogs had killed her parents, and what better way to exact revenge than to kill some of their own? Of course, their comrades didn't mean as much as parents, but Yuna figured if she killed enough of them that she'd feel better about her parents' deaths.
Yuna stalked through the bushes outside the base. She stayed close to the ground, as the bushes themselves were quite short. Unsheathing the knife strapped to her calf, she cut down the limbs of the shrubbery as they tickled her face. Her eyes, however, stayed tentatively on the base. They searched for any sign that she was being detected.
Her eyes were normal human eyes, but her ears were mechanical and could pick up the slightest sound. They piqued on the conversations within the barracks, but she drowned out the talking to focus more on the shuffling of feet. If the shuffling came near her, she would either have to fight or flee. More than likely, she'd fight, but if she was outnumbered, then that was a different circumstance.
Yuna crouched in the bushes, pushing aside a limb to peer out at the base. She was almost sitting right at the gate of the base, but the guards were too stupid to see or hear her. Yuna calculated the best place to strike while balancing the edge of the knife on her fingertip. Then, in a split second, she grasped the hilt of the blade and hurled it at the guard closest to her. The dagger soared, spiraling beautifully. That was, until it became stuck in the guard's neck. It made a nasty noise as it penetrated his flesh. Yuna shifted a bit, ready to pull out the knife concealed around her waist. She was always geared to the teeth with knives, and just when you thought you had seen them all, she pulled another one from out of thin air.
As the guard went up to grab the knife, he collapsed to the ground, still struggling. The guard adjacent to him fell to his side, inspecting his wound and attempting to pull out the blade. However, Yuna knew it had went deep, and would take some strength to pull out. Silently, she looked on, mentally projecting where her other dagger should fly.
Yuna removed the blade from her waist and held it close to her face, admiring its gleam in the moonlight. It was her most favorite blade because it was pitted to drain the blood out of enemies. It had also been engraved by her father in a language she couldn't understand. She didn't let it out of her hand unless she knew she was getting it back. In this case, this guard was too dumb to call for help, so the blade wouldn't even leave her sight.
She drew back her arm and was about to let the dagger go, but the sound of a shrieking bat spooked her and altered her aim. Instead of the knife flying at the man's head, it flew past his ear and stuck in the dirt behind him. He stood up, took the knife in his hand and then walked over to an intercom. Before he could press the button to speak, Yuna jumped out of the bush and leapt onto his back. She screamed in his ear like a banshee. He was so startled that he dropped the knife. Yuna heard it hit the ground, but the man had grabbed her arms so she couldn't leap off of him. She struggled to get her feet on the ground, but this man was unusually tall, and so she was dangling around his neck like some kind of cape.
Yuna leaned forward, biting his hand until she drew blood. When he didn't budge, she continued to apply pressure, until the blood was actually thick enough to taste in her mouth. He released her, but not without grabbing her by the hair on her nape. Yuna jerked away, letting him take a small handful of hair as a souvenir.
She swiftly picked up her blade and darted into the darkness of the trees around the base. The guard pressed a large, red button on the speaker and immediately, a group of officers came out of the barracks, in uniform with shiny guns. Yuna watched them silently, watched them as they carried the injured man away and watched as the leader talked with the guard who had fought off Yuna.
Yuna felt defeated, weakened. However, she knew there were too many to take on, so she retreated into a tree. She sat carelessly on a limb overlooking the base, looking on wordlessly like a cat. She was concentrating, focusing on what she could hear. There was someone nearby. Someone that wasn't part of the military because they weren't moving, only talking. The person she heard was moving. And immediately, Yuna was much more interested in them. Her ears continued to pick up movement, while her eyes were blind. A blade crept into Yuna's hand and with blinding speed, she let it soar to the place where she thought she heard someone. Whether it hit them or not, was a different story. It took both of Yuna's senses to perfectly calculate where to strike. With only one, she was somewhat handicapped.
