The coast is a place where everyone always finds fun and some sort of adventure. The sandy beaches hiding away hidden treasures and the water's hiding a vast wonderland of mystery the mind couldn't even imagine. There was a time when people would come to the beach to sunbathe or build sand castles. Some stumbling upon love and others just looking for a good time. That time seemed like a history now... something you wouldn't even wonder about now a days. Now, the coast was a barren wasteland with dangerous broken boards all over the place and beach houses torn to almost nothing. The shy was cloudy and gray and the waves crashed against the shore in a very eerie way...
It was sending chills down Hope's back. She was standing on one of the balconies of a destroyed beach house. Her little body seemed more fragile and paler than usual in the dim lightly that had fallen on the coast. Her long curly brown hair was pulled back into her mother's choker. This was something she did often since she always lost her hair ties. So instead she would untie the black ribbon choker from her neck and tie it around her hair in a messy bun. Little rainbows played across her hair because of the swirled spiral crystal charm that hung on the black ribbon. It was Hope's only memory of her mother and honestly the only thing she really owned anymore in this newly destroyed world.
Her golden hazel eyes turned away from the eerie ocean too look at the beach house. Normally Hope wasn't the one to intrude in privet places and such but since the place was basically rubble she figured no one would mind. Besides, she was the only one here in the wasteland. Hope held her hands behind her back and started humming mindlessly to herself as she explored the ruined house. This was just a simple detour from what she had promised herself to do. She was looking for her older sister, Natasha, whom she was separated from about a month ago. Their home in New York was destroyed and Hope was hit with ceiling when she last saw Natasha. Now she was searching-- quite literally-- city after city until she found her.
But! For now she was in search for some new things. Earlier she was wearing a dirty orange tank top and a ripped pair of shorts but after doing a bit of roaming around these abandoned houses she found herself a white tank top and an orange strapless baby doll shirt-- she had to stick with the sorts she had on though... not to many people were as tiny as Hope was. At least she didn't have ALL dirty clothes. However she was still in search of abandoned money and something to eat. And you either get money to eat or don't eat at all in Hope's book. Weather the world was destroyed or not she wasn't going to start changing her peaceful morals. Stealing-- as she learned growing up-- was a no, no.
Finding abandoned money on the other hand was... not necessarily a no, no... after all it WAS abandoned. As Hope walked through the ruin of the house, she started going through the drawers and such-- looking for wallets and maybe a bible. She had learned that some people... old people... stuff money in their bibles for safe keeping. Hope wasn't a christian so she didn't feel bad whenever she DID find money in a bible. There was a bible in this house but there was only 5 dollars in it. Hope frowned and shyly shoved the five in her pocket. This wasn't going to help her much with food and a place to sleep for the night. She decided to keep looking. Hope placed the book back on the desk where she found it and walked over to a door that was slightly ajar, starting to fall of its hinges. She pushed the door open and started looking through the dressers. When she reached the bottom one she found a big fat wallet in the corner.
"în niciun caz... (Translation: No way...)" she muttered to herself, completely baffled. She opened the wallet and blinked, her hazel eyes flashing brightly. There was a whole wad of money in it! Hope quickly took the money out and fanned it out, counting every bill. 50, 100...200!? Hope couldn't help but smile with joy. If she planned right she could just find a place to sleep that didn't require money and she could eat everyday! But then she realized...
Why was she so happy when the inside of her was tugging at her strings, begging her to put it back?
