How long has it been since Kaleb had first woken up in the small Hospital room with his memories gone, scars, and a new set of limbs? Was it already two years? Honestly Kaleb couldn’t be bothered with the time because to him time was something forgotten. It was like the first 17 years of his life, all that precious time, was pointless because he just couldn’t remember. It really was quite frustrating that he couldn’t remember anything important, sure he knew how to function and communicate but he couldn’t remember who or what he was. All he knew was his name from a dog tag that still hung around his neck that read KALEB AKRON HARRIS and nothing else. At least he knew his name, which seemed significant seeing as he remembered nothing else even though he has been searching for the past two years.
The quest to rediscover his past, to remember those crucial memories, is what drove Kaleb across the world. He has gone so many places after following clue after clue, but there hasn’t been any information about who he was. After making a hasty demand out of a nurse in the hospital so he could find out where he was before he was in the Hospital Kaleb fled to that place. However there was nothing to find, only a piece of land ravaged by warfare with an immaculate city in the distance. Kaleb didn’t understand why he would be found here, there wasn’t anything there, so he asked around about that place and from there he kept looking and looking based off shifty information and speculations.
The last place that Kaleb went to was a rather bad off city with shady people and a ragged appearance. Nobody bothered to mess with Kaleb because of his frightening 6’7” height, brooding ice blue eyes, and freakishly calm demeanor. People probably thought wild things about him because of what he looked like, but all that Kaleb cared about was what he truly was, not what was speculated about him. Honestly Kaleb didn’t even know if his appearance was what he truly was, there weren’t any scars on his face so he assumed that at least his face was what it was all those years ago. However he didn’t know if his height was enhanced by his mechanical legs or if he seemed more muscular because of his robotic arm or if the burn marks on his torso were there before or after he arrived in the Hospital. There was no way of Kaleb knowing so he kept looking and looking.
Right now Kaleb was taking a break from his travels in a piece of open land that’s most significant landmark was a tree in the distance. Deciding that it was best to keep cover in the tall grass that surrounded him Kaleb put his pack on the ground then laid down resting his head on the pack. Taking a deep breath Kaleb pulled out a pack of cigarettes and a lighter out of his pocket and lit up. Honestly Kaleb didn’t know if this was a habit he had picked up before or after whatever happened to him, but he knew that a few days after running out of the Hospital someone offered him one and he took on and liked it. After that he found that smoking gave him comfort, it made his hectic head match his calm expression. The smoke from the cigarette was the only thing that would possibly give away that there was a rather large person lying on the ground within the tall grass. Kaleb hoped that it didn’t attract trouble because that was the last thing he needed.

SO WHAT IF YOU CAN SEE, THE DARKEST SIDE OF ME? NO ONE WILL EVER CHANGE THIS ANIMAL I HAVE BECOME help me believe, it's not the real me; somebody help me tame this animal! • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • Yuna was relieved to find herself in open country. That meant no authorities chasing her or people in her business. She had come here specifically to get away from idiots and their nosiness.
She had her training knives with her, playing a little game with the small shrubs that littered the ground. She would get a ways away from them, crouch down, and flick her blade. More often than not, it would slice through a branch or cut the shrub in half. If it was particularly thick, it would simply burrow through its bark. Yuna's target practice was something she took seriously, but sometimes she purposely missed, just to take off a leaf or a flower.
She was really quite amused with her little game, as it honed her skills and it kept her mind off of everything around her. It wasn't like she was hurting anything. If she was going to hurt something, she expected some kind of pay. That was how her life worked. Money made the world go 'round, afterall. Nothing in life was free. Yuna had learned that the hard way, and she made sure to apply that in all situations.
However, her aim was suddenly deterred by the noise of a lighter being lit. The knife she threw hit the shrub sideways and made a twang as it fell to the ground. Yuna swiftly darted over to where it had landed, picked it up, and, staying low to the ground, began to search for the sign of life she had just heard.
It was pretty obvious where this person was, as a trail of smoke had began to arise from their spot in the grass. Yuna crept up the person and once she was close enough, pounced on him. Her knees went beside his waist and one hand by his neck. The other hand held a knife close to his throat. She stared down at him viciously with a twisted snarl on her lips. "Who are you? What are you doing here?" Yuna growled, touching the edge of the blade to his skin. She was careful not to actually penetrate his flesh, but wouldn't hesitate to slice him open if he tried anything.
No one snuck up on Yuna and got away with it. No, sir. She would have this guy's pretty little head if he was spying on her. And if he challenged her on that, she wouldn't be afraid to make him suffer.
This boy looked rather menacing, so Yuna moved her hand that was by his neck to his shoulder. She forcefully pinned him down to the ground so he wouldn't be able to push her off. Right now, she had the upper hand and with a knife against your throat, it would probably be wise to give up.
Her eyes didn't leave him for a moment. She knew better than to not pay attention to every fiber of her prey. Sometimes they were crafty and would try to get away. Well, not this time. Yuna was done losing what rightfully belonged to her. This kid was just lucky she wasn't a bounty hunter or he'd probably be dead right now.

As Kaleb was lying on his back in the countryside he tried to link together his past, as he usually did when he had times of solitude like this. It seemed that there should be something that would link together all the random and miscellaneous facts and speculations that he discovered. However it seemed like something was missing, something crucial. There was something that linked all those little things together and Kaleb just couldn’t remember what it was. It must have been a big part of his life or something really important because without it the rest of his life was a just a confusing jumble of randomness. Surely if Kaleb discovered that one thing he would be able to finally make some kind of progress in his search.
Since Kaleb was so caught up in his own head he didn’t even notice the sound of someone in the distance or he did notice it just didn’t matter enough for it to register to him. By now Kaleb should learn to not let his guard down because for some reason people always wanted to attack him. They would always shout wild accusations at him and try to hurt him. Luckily Kaleb had some kind of natural fighting reflex that he can defend himself pretty well. Maybe in his past he was a great fighter and the skills have lingered in his brain. However Kaleb had to admit that the mechanical legs and arm really did help in a sticky situation.
Take now for example. Right now Kaleb was just minding his own business, smoking a cigarette, and thinking of what he has lost. Then all of a sudden out of practically no where out leaps some girl with a knife in hand. She leapt on him and held a knife to his throat, holding him down by the shoulder. If this girl had sprung on any other person they probably would’ve either be frightened or extremely angry. However Kaleb wasn’t like other people and he didn’t really feel any particular emotion as this girl thought she had his life in her hands. To tell the truth if Kaleb wanted to he could probably get out of this really easy, but instead he just laid there on the ground allowing this girl to think she was in control of the situation.
Kaleb he said simply. If there were to be one thing that would be constant about Kaleb was that he was a man of little words. If there were a billion thoughts streaming in his head he would be able to condense them into a sentence, two at the maximum. So when this girl demanded things out of him, like his name and what he was doing Kaleb found it easy to say the words quickly and simply. I’m just lyin’ down for a smoke Kaleb said in a even, calm voice as if he wasn’t being threatened but talking about the weather or what he was planning on eating for lunch. So what are you doin? Kaleb asked knowing that it probably wasn’t the choice of words that most people would use in this kind of situation.

SO WHAT IF YOU CAN SEE, THE DARKEST SIDE OF ME? NO ONE WILL EVER CHANGE THIS ANIMAL I HAVE BECOME help me believe, it's not the real me; somebody help me tame this animal! • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • Yuna was slightly offended by this boy's calm stature. It meant he wasn't afraid of her, and if he wasn't afraid, then he thought that she couldn't or wouldn't hurt him. Well, he was absolutely wrong. Yuna wouldn't mind slicing his throat right here, but she wasn't going to be so heartless. Unless he committed a crime against her, she wasn't going to hurt him, but she definitely could.
His question was just so... out of place. What was she doing? Well, the answer was pretty clear. She was sitting on top of him, ready to gut him. Other than that, she was enjoying the fresh air while practicing her knife throwing. Damn it! This kid was too relaxed. She wanted to shove her blade down his throat just to teach him a lesson.
A large, cynical grin spread over her features. "Why, me? I'm just getting ready to kill a guy called Kaleb. That's all," Yuna said with the fakest-sounding innocent voice she could muster. Immediately following, the smile vanished and all traces of that nice pine smell to her voice were erased.
Her eyes watched the smoke from the cigarette from a moment before she grew irked by it. She wrinkled her nose in disdain and grabbed the cigarette away from him. "Put out that stupid cigarette. That's a nasty habit," she scowled rashly, smashing it into the earth.
Yuna sheathed her knife and placed her other hand on his shoulder. She leaned over him so she could look him straight in the eye. "You're lucky I didn't cut you. I had half a mind to," she commented. "But your face is awfully pretty and I wouldn't want it to be awfully pale."
With that said, she sat back on her knees for a moment. Then she got up, but made sure to keep an eye on him. Just because he seemed calm and innocent didn't mean that he actually was. Yuna knew better than to believe that kind of act.
She paced slowly and cautiously a few times around him. His placid demeanor was driving her insane. She wanted to grab him and start just beating him because she felt as if he were mocking her. More likely than not, but Yuna didn't like his type. People that didn't talk or said very few words. It wasn't human at all not to talk.
"Tell me, Kaleb, are you a spy or part of the Resistance or are you out to collect a bounty on my head? It would be best if you just told me the truth, so maybe I will make your death quick and painless," Yuna warned, staring at him sharply. "Because I'm not fazed by your innocent disposition." She gave him a fair warning, so if he didn't give her the information he was looking for, then she wouldn't spare him. Yuna knew he was part of something. He had that mastermind sense to him, and she wasn't letting him go until she figured out where he belonged to. Then she would be sure to lay waste to whichever group decided to send someone after her.

Ever since Kaleb could remember, which isn’t that long, he has been a quiet guy. He just didn’t see the point in talking excessively when he could say what he needed in a few short words. Some people were annoyed by this because they couldn’t understand what he was thinking with the few words that he utters and his stoic appearance. Honestly Kaleb didn’t understand why people were so thrown off by him. It wasn’t like he was trying to hide anything he just answered the questions and kept his mouth shut. Maybe it was a habit from his life before, to say little and keep his mouth shut, but either way Kaleb just stuck with what felt right, which was say as little as possible.
Hmmm I can see that Kaleb said calmly to the remark about her going to gut him and what not. Most people would probably be scared by now because she looked like she would do it without a problem. However unlike most people Kaleb didn’t really have a sense of self preservation. He didn’t know if it was because he didn’t really have anything to live for or it was some feeling that he had before his memories went blank. Either way Kaleb just didn’t see the need to panic in situations like this, what was the point in wasting all that energy when if this girl really wanted to kill Kaleb she would find a way to do it even if he put up a fight?
I’m sure it is Kaleb said knowing that smoking is a bad habit. However Kaleb was certain that if something went wrong with his lungs there would be some kind of machine that would be able to replace his lungs. If there were machines that could replace his limbs then he was certain that somebody somewhere could fix his lungs. Even if there wasn’t a machine out there that could fix his lungs then Kaleb honestly didn’t care, you know with the whole lack of self preservation thing. There probably are better habits that Kaleb could’ve picked up but he was sure that it was probably something that he was already addicted to before whatever happened to him.
Well it’s nice to know that I’m not dying today Kaleb said in the same even tone. By now a normal person would be relieved that she wasn’t planning on killing him at the moment and stood up and started to pace. However unlike an ordinary person Kaleb showed no signs of relief instead he just moved from the position he was in into a sitting one and watched the girl pace. The whole time she was pacing her eyes were kept on him like she was waiting for him to suddenly pull out a machete and start hacking at her or something. Kaleb could see why she kept an eye on him; most people didn’t seem to trust him because of his stoic demeanor.
I don’t know Kaleb said honestly. He didn’t know if he was part of the Resistance sent after this girl or if he was a Bounty Hunter trying to collect a huge bounty that was on her head or if he was just some innocent bystander that didn’t really have a purpose in the world. How was he supposed to know if he was sent to kill her? Of course recently he hasn’t had any orders to spy, track down, or kill this girl so he wasn’t what she probably thought he was. So who are you? Kaleb asked, yet again asking a question that didn’t match the situation but Kaleb figured he had the right to know who she was if she was accusing him of these things.

SO WHAT IF YOU CAN SEE, THE DARKEST SIDE OF ME? NO ONE WILL EVER CHANGE THIS ANIMAL I HAVE BECOME help me believe, it's not the real me; somebody help me tame this animal! • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • This kid was just... so calm. Too calm in Yuna's eyes. No one was that placid when someone leapt at you like a frenzied animal and pointed a knife at your neck. Either he had something wrong with him or he knew something that she did not. And she would get some answers. Whether or not he lived through it, was his choice.
Yuna stopped pacing around him, but stared him down very intently. He was the most opposing enemy she had met. All because he didn't talk very much and he didn't show any emotion. It confused her.
"Don't be so smug," Yuna snapped, feeling threatened by his disposition. "You might die today. Just because you have a pretty face doesn't mean anything. You can't trust anyone on what they say, so why would you trust me? Are you just that stupid?"
She folded her arms over chest crossly, glaring venomously at him. She was debating whether or not to answer him. She was judging his reply. He didn't know? He sounded sincere enough, but Yuna wasn't going to be a hypocrite and not take her own advice.
"Now you must think I'm stupid. You don't know? That is the least believable answer you could have given. What, do you have memory loss or something? You must mistake me for a fool." Yuna bit her tongue on some other things she would have liked to touch on. She tried to be civil when there wasn't a reason to be violent. Unless she was stalking her prey, of course.
Now he wanted to know who she was. Who was she? Well, she could be a lot of things. His worst enemy, sounded like the best option, but he probably just meant her name. "I am Yuna. But my name is unimportant. I want to know why you're here. Did you know I was here?" Yuna explained harshly. He had no right to know her name, but she figured she'd be nice and tell him.
She felt like she was talking to a little kid or something, however. That may have been why she hadn't cut him or yelled or anything. She had a huge soft spot for children. So maybe that was the case.
Yuna raised her hand to her forehead and rubbed it in agitation. She didn't know what to say or do from now. She had a feeling that he didn't know she was here, or he wouldn't have been laying here. He would have been trying to find her, unless he was just that dumb. So if he wasn't a threat, maybe Yuna could take his money, if he had any. Surely he had some kind of valuable on him. It wouldn't be difficult to take anything from him. It wasn't like he would object.

This girl wasn’t the only person that Kaleb has run into that seems to think that he is up to no good. No matter where he goes people always think that he is up to no good and he doesn’t understand why. It’s not like he goes to places with the intent of reeking havoc and making people unhappy. All he wants are the memories that he has lost and the fact that people don’t really want to be near him doesn’t help because he can’t seem to find anyone willing to disclose anything. Sometimes Kaleb has the feeling that someone knows something but they won’t say or that people are just hiding things from him in general. Could he have been someone that terrifying that it makes people not even want to tell him something about himself? What was he in his past?
Smug? I’m not being smug… Kaleb said confused. Why would she think that he was being smug? All he was doing was saying what he was thinking, it’s not like he was trying to rub something in or be sarcastic or anything. People always seemed to mistake what he says for sarcasm or something completely different than what he meant. Maybe it was the fact that he didn’t have any emotion in his voice that made people jump to conclusions. Sometime Kaleb thinks that he should probably fix that problem but whenever he attempts to he screws up somehow, so he has come to the conclusion that a calm and even voice was much much better than trying to put his emotions in his words.
Trust you? Kaleb asked confused, this girl seemed to confuse Kaleb a lot. When did I ever say that I trusted you? Why would she even consider that he trusted her? If there was one thing that Kaleb knew was that nobody was trustworthy. Kaleb learned his lesson plenty of times when it came to trust. People always lied, for fun, for profit, for food, etc. So why would Kaleb trust this girl of all people? The last person that Kaleb could trust was someone that just pulled a knife on him and started making outrageous demands. Seriously couldn’t people just leave Kaleb alone so he could figure out who the hell he is or was?
At first Kaleb disregarded the fact that she actually hit him spot on, Kaleb did have memory loss but he didn’t really think that right now was the best time to tell her because he wasn’t even sure that she would believe him. So he skipped over that little part of the conversation by ducking his head and running his mechanical right hand, a habit he had when he tried to avoid things like this. It seems like since his memory was erased he has been inclined to be truthful, so in dishonest situations like right now he felt a little uneasy.
I dunno Kaleb said with a shrug of his shoulders and looked back up at Yuna right in the eye with his own icy blue ones. Why did she think that he wanted to find her? This was so confusing! What was with this girl? Honestly couldn’t she just let it go? He already said that he didn’t know so why was she still questioning him? Why would I want to find you? Kaleb asked still confused at this entire situation. All situations like this Kaleb got confused.

SO WHAT IF YOU CAN SEE, THE DARKEST SIDE OF ME? NO ONE WILL EVER CHANGE THIS ANIMAL I HAVE BECOME help me believe, it's not the real me; somebody help me tame this animal! • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • This was very frustrating. She couldn't seem to get a straight answer out of this guy. He either answered with another question or he didn't know. Who was this dumb? Really? It was almost like he knew absolutely nothing!
Yuna shook her head at him, ready to scream and yell her anger, but she held it back. He was a fortunate one. If it had been someone else, she would have busted their ear drums. However, he seemed... different, and Yuna didn't know what was compelling her to be so kind.
"That's not what I meant. I meant don't trust me to not kill you just because I said I wouldn't," Yuna replied in exasperation.
Her eyes watched his body language carefully. He seemed a bit nervous about something. Maybe she was wrong about him. Maybe he was less innocent than he looked. Yuna narrowed her eyes, deep in thought. What had she said that he would be anxious about? About killing him? Well, he had a right to be scared or paranoid. Yuna had killed many men before him and he probably didn't know her reputation, but she was quite ferocious.
"You'd want to find me because... you're a spy or something," Yuna returned, a little tired of this questioning game. It seemed apparent that he had no idea what he was doing. His confusion only added onto that theory.
She shook her head again. She was trying to wrap her head around this kid. She didn't understand him, but it didn't really matter. She had collapsed beside him and without warning, embraced him in a bear hug. Yuna had decided that his confusion was absolutely adorable, and he was so much like a child that she couldn't help herself. There was no way he could act this way and be deadly. It was just fathomless to think that he could be.
"You are the cutest thing ever. You're just like a big kid," she commented, an explanation to her sudden sign of affection. Yuna continued to hug him because she felt some comfort there. She wasn't always a cold, heartless monster. Really, on the inside, she was a nice, caring person, but to make a living, she had to be tough and vicious. This guy's childish disposition seemed to bring out the kind side of her. It was quite unexplainable the way that it washed over her, but she didn't want to let him go. She was a very protective person, and Kaleb was hers to protect. She didn't care if he objected or not.
Yuna was determined not to let go, even if he tried to pry her off. She couldn't remember the last time she had shown anyone compassion and it was enjoyable. He would probably be a little scared of her sudden change of heart. Or, perhaps, he would see that truly, she wasn't a bad person. She wasn't going to slit his throat or take his money or anything. Quite the opposite. She would protect him and probably give him money if he asked for it.

This Yuna girl wasn’t the only person that has ever confused Kaleb. Hell the first few months after he woke up with no memory of his past just about everything and everyone confused the living hell out of him. There were some things that he could remember, things to avoid and such, but otherwise he was stuck with the basics. It wasn’t like he was a baby or anything; he was just a 19 year guy with the basic knowledge of the world and a clean slate on the view of the world. Most people either thought that his memory loss was an act or took pity on him, both reactions Kaleb didn’t like. He would much rather prefer people leave him alone unless they were helping him discover what he was missing.
There was a time when Kaleb actually trusted people a little bit even though part of him told him not to trust anyone. However the issue of fighting the urge to not trust was quickly fixed because after a few bad experiences Kaleb’s trust in people quickly diminished and the part of him that told him not to. It was like a part of his past was still hanging on to help him even though he didn’t know what was going on. You see even though he was acting calm right now not a fiber of his being trusted the girl that was threatening him and trying to get information out of him. Even if he knew what she was talking about Kaleb wouldn’t have even told her the information. Once again it was probably part of his past that kept him from disclosing any type of information and this part made Kaleb worry sometimes, about what he was and what he did.
However right now Kaleb didn’t worry about his past but what was happening right now because Yuna had seemingly given up on extracting information from him and decided to sit down right next to him. What made this even more unusual was that all of a sudden she wrapped her arms and him and gave him a hug which caused his whole body to stiffen in response. A hug of all things. In the two years that Kaleb can remember he has never gotten a hug for a few reasons, one being the lack of huggable people and two being the lack of trust. What Kaleb couldn’t figure out now was why in all that is wonderful was this girl hugging him? Just a few seconds ago this girl was making all kinds of threats and now she just decided to hug him? What in the world was this about? And Kaleb thought that this couldn’t get anymore confusing, oh was he wrong.
I’m…cute? Kaleb asked confused. There have been people to call him many things but cute wasn’t one of them, he’s been called scary, gigantic, threatening, jerk, asshole, etc. However nobody has ever called Kaleb cute. How could he be called cute when he was capable of doing so many things? Even though his memory is gone in the past two years Kaleb has done things that surprised himself but seemed like second nature to his body. Whoever he was in his past was someone that shouldn’t be messed with, Kaleb could just hope that whatever he did was for the good of things and not the bad. I don’t remember ever being called cute, but not remembering things isn’t something unusual for me I guess. Kaleb said, emotions absent in his voice.

NO ONE WILL EVER CHANGE THIS ANIMAL I HAVE BECOME help me believe, it's not the real me; somebody help me tame this animal! • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • She felt sort of bad for having ever threatened him in the first place. She really needed to learn who was a threat and who wasn't. Obviously this kid was not. He was just so adorable, like a rather tall teddy bear, and Yuna wasn't going to let him get away.
He seemed especially confused by her suddenly embracing him, which she couldn't blame him for. She probably seemed like a bit of a freak; well, she was. Yuna couldn't help her nature, and her nature was to care for anything small and cute. Obviously he wasn't small, but he was very cute. To her, he was, anyways.
"You're very, very cute, even if you aren't a child. If no one is taking care of you, I certainly will," she responded gingerly. By taking care of, she meant protecting, more or less. She wasn't about to treat an adult like he needed his mother. Yuna wasn't that insane. However, if anyone tried to mess with him, she wouldn't hesitate to decapitate them.
She had just met Kaleb, sure, but a certain instinct made her feel like she had known him for years. Maybe it was the guilt of being so mean or maybe it was just her real personality. Perhaps it was both, but Yuna knew she didn't want anything bad to happen to him.
Finally, she released him from her grip of death and looked up at his icy eyes. "I know you're very confused, but anything cute, fuzzy, tiny, or adorable makes me just flip out. And you're certainly not fuzzy or tiny. I don't know why, but your confusion and forgetfulness makes me think of a child. And children are my absolute weak point," Yuna explained casually.
Yuna was about to lay down in the grass until her sensitive hearing picked up a noise not too far from them. She heard the deep rumble of a growl. The grass folding underfoot of something quite large. The exasperated breathing. Yuna got to her feet, but stayed crouched down. She turned on her heel and stalked toward the beast she heard. Slowly and silently, her knives were unsheathed and just as she was about to throw one into the unknown, a large, spotted cat leapt from the grass and tackled Yuna. She tried to wrestle it off of her, but she had dropped her knives, and the cat was already snapping at her jugular.
With the help of some adrenaline, she managed to push the feline away, but it swiftly changed targets. Seeing that Yuna was a match for it, the big cat began to stalk Kaleb. A low rumble emitted in its throat, almost like a warning, before it decided to strike out at him. Yuna was nursing her arm, which had a huge gash in it. It poured blood and the least she could do was stay awake. She could just barely make out that the cat was going for Kaleb. As much as she wanted to jump to help him, her body made her stay right where she was, clutching her wound. Her hearing was still as sharp, even though her eyesight was turning black. She heard the feline growling and hissing, but she didn't hear any sign of it actually attempting to attack except for feigning a swipe at him. Perhaps the cat wanted something that was close by. Or it was being territorial. Either way, Yuna couldn't move due to blood loss, and that leopard was probably going to tear him to pieces if he didn't know how to handle it.

Over and over Yuna kept mentioning how cute she thought Kaleb was; something that Kaleb just didn’t understand at all. How could someone see that Kaleb, a monstrously tall machine that was capable of anything, be cute? Kaleb has done things in the past two years that definitely are not cute or cuddly or deserving of a hug. So why in the world was she calling him cute and giving him hugs like he was some little thing that needs to be protected all the time. Out of all of the people that she could have said this to she had to have chosen the most unlikely person to be considered cute, seeing as Kaleb is a walking talking lethal machine, literally, with his mechanical arm, legs, and hand.
Take care of me? Kaleb asked, yet again confused. What did she mean take care of him? Did she want to treat him like a child and act like Mommy? Kaleb doubted that, but still what she said was extremely confusing. Did she just want to travel around with him and what not? Honestly Kaleb didn’t understand how she thought that he needed to be taken care of when he very obviously didn’t look like he needed to be taken care of at all. How could someone think that Kaleb of all people needed to be taken care of? Most people were too scared of him to even get near him, but this Yuna girl had dared to even hug him. Seriously this was one of the most confusing situations Kaleb has ever gotten into.
However Kaleb wasn’t able to think further on the situation at hand because a new one had presented itself. Yuna had leapt from where she was sitting next to Kaleb and crouched close to the ground making Kaleb fully aware of what was going on. It was obvious by how she held herself that there was something threatening near by, something that could hurt them. So by now a normal person would’ve stood up with her and probably been ready for the attack, but Kaleb remained sitting on the ground waiting for the threat to pass or something. Yuna on the other hand wasn’t going to just let it pass by; she was already ready to attack with her knives in hand.
While Kaleb was still sitting on the ground a wildcat leapt out of the grass and at Yuna. Within seconds Kaleb was on his feet, ready to rip the cat in half. After Yuna pushed the cat off of herself it looked straight at Kaleb, ready to get a taste of his blood because apparently he was the next easiest target. The way that Kaleb was standing suggested that he was extremely bored, not being attacked by a giant wildcat. As the wildcat swiped at Kaleb out of the corner of his eye he saw Yuna lying on the ground clutching her arm as he dodged the swipe of the cat with ease. The cat then leapt at Kaleb and tackled him to the ground, but within seconds Kaleb grabbed the cat by the neck and tossed it like a rag doll with his mechanical arm. Standing up Kaleb looked at the cat that was still growling at him, with a roll of his eyes Kaleb the cat kicked with inhuman strength and it went flying into the only tree in sight, hit the tree, and fell to the ground.
Sighing Kaleb walked back over to Yuna who was lying on the ground. Crouching down Kaleb looked at the gash on her arm without a single word then stood up and walked over to his bag. After rummaging around he pulled out some gauze and disinfectant then walked back over to Yuna. You know I don’t think I’m the one that needs looking after Kaleb said with a small smirk on his face. Seeing as I’m not the one that’s injured. Do you mind? Kaleb added and held up the gauze and disinfectant to ask if she didn’t care if he patched her up.

SO WHAT IF YOU CAN SEE, THE DARKEST SIDE OF ME? NO ONE WILL EVER CHANGE THIS ANIMAL I HAVE BECOME help me believe, it's not the real me; somebody help me tame this animal! • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • That cat was more ferocious than Yuna had anticipated. She had not been expecting to be lying on the ground, bleeding uncontrollably, that was for sure. The gash she had in her arm was large enough to stick her finger through; she wasn't going to do that, of course. The blood was sticky and wet and quite warm. The least she could do was hold her hand over it and attempt to clot the blood.
As the shock from the pain was beginning to wear off, Yuna began to gain her eyesight. She turned her head to the side to see Kaleb kick the feline. It didn't bother to come back after that, and Yuna was left a little stunned by his strength. She had underestimated him, definitely.
When he walked over with some stuff to patch up her wound, she was actually relieved. Maybe it would erase the pain, or just smother it a bit. However, something inside her told her not to let him use those things. Her tough mentality was warning her not to let someone help her. She traveled alone and could do anything by herself. Yuna was having second thoughts about letting him tend to her wound.
However, the smirk on his face just made the rough exterior melt. She removed her hand from her arm. "I was looking after you, but that cat caught me off-guard is all," she responded lightly, "and no, I don't mind." Yuna wasn't sure how that cat had caught her off-guard, because, afterall, she had heard it coming. She supposed the fact that it leapt at her was a surprise. It had overcame her, so it couldn't have been anticipated.
Whatever the case, it was a good thing Kaleb wasn't as harmless as he seemed. If he was, they probably would have both been dead. That was the sad thing. Yuna had gotten one injury, and she was lying on the ground, acting like she was dying. She could have taken that wildcat, even with an injury. She was just... testing Kaleb's abilities out. Yes, because she needed something to tell herself so that she didn't feel like a complete loser. She didn't typically like people helping her, and frankly, she wasn't used to it either, but perhaps this Kaleb guy was a good person to have around.
"Okay, so maybe I shouldn't baby you. You really did some damage to that cat," Yuna commented with an involuntary smirk on her face. "But I could have done much better," she added, rolling her eyes.

To take on a large cat was an easy task for Kaleb, so it was hard for him to believe that someone would think that it wasn’t for him. By sheer size he looked like he could overtake a bear, then you add on the machines that he calls arms and legs he could probably take on something much bigger than a bear. If Kaleb was a man of pride he would have been extremely offended that Yuna thought that he would be torn to shreds by a stupid little cat, but Kaleb didn’t really care if people underestimated him like Yuna just had. Hell it would be a miracle if people would because it would make things much easier, but sadly just by looks people didn’t seem to underestimate him much.
I don’t need people looking after me Kaleb corrected her. He didn’t know why she thought that he of all people would need protecting. Sure his memories are gone but it didn’t mean that he didn’t know how to defend himself against unsavory things like a dinky little wild cat. When he woke up in the hospital he didn’t have any memories of his past but his body was able to remember things, most particularly fighting and defending himself. What did confuse Kaleb was that even though Yuna didn’t know his memories were lost she still felt the need to protect him. In the few cases where Kaleb has told people about his memory people usually feel the need to baby him, but Yuna was already doing that without even knowing a thing about him.
This is going to sting a little… Kaleb told her as he dabbed some disinfectant on gauze and started applying it to her wound. Kaleb knew that this would sting because he had done it to himself numerous times. By now the sting didn’t bother Kaleb but he didn’t know if Yuna had much experience with it so he felt the need to warn her before disinfecting the nasty looking gash on her arm. After disinfecting the thing Kaleb unrolled some gauze and started to wrap it around her arm. It was as if he was going on autopilot as he wrapped up his arm, it felt as if he has done this thousand of hundreds of times, not just to himself but to others. Now that was weird.
It wasn’t hard, much easier than a tank or something Kaleb said and he didn’t know why. Why would he say a tank was harder? Why wouldn’t he have just said something simpler instead of a tank of all things? Shaking the thoughts out of his head Kaleb looked at Yuna’s arm which was now completely wrapped up. That should be good now Kaleb said in reference to her arm. So why do you think that I wouldn’t be able to take on a stupid little cat? Kaleb asked, seriously wanting to know why she would think that a stupid cat was a threat to Kaleb or something.
